Au Pair in Australia

If you want to work as an Au Pair in Australia - we can get you a job before you leave NZ.

Can I apply to be an Au Pair in Australia?

We have three levels for Au Pairing in Australia - and I am sure one will suit you.

  1. Au Pair in Australia– 200 hours minimum experience. You will care for children over the age of three years old only.
  2. Au Pair in Australia Plus – you can care for children under 3 years old as well as over. You will need 100 hours with under 3's.
  3. Au Pair Platinum – have a minimum of 2 years full time experience or hold a degree or child care related certification

When is the best time to start a job as an Au Pair in Australia.

  • January - limited placements
  • February – excellent
  • March – excellent
  • April – excellent
  • May – excellent
  • June – excellent
  • July - average
  • August – average to good
  • September – average to good
  • October –average to good
  • November – average to good
  • December - average

So - what that means is - if you are flexible on your start date we can place you. Don't book your flights until we have found you a confirmed job as an au pair in Australia. I know cheap flights can be tempting but you'll lose any savings you made pretty quickly while waiting for a job.

What do I get as an Au Pair Australia program participant

  • Safe introductions to vetted host families who are looking for a 'cultural childcare' experience (not a 'cheap cleaner')
  • You then choose the family you are most happy with - we will assist with setting up interviews by phone and skype

  • First Aid Course on arrival -this is during Orientation so it is compulsory and the cost is $50AUD
  • Optional Sydney Airport Transfer and 3 Nights accommodation including 3 breakfasts in a Hostel near Orientation
  • Local support on arrival and during your stay

  • National travel expenses paid for you to get from Sydney to family after Orientation if needed
  • On arrival you'll receive details of other au pairs in your area with a welcome letter and things to do in your area to help you settle in quickly
  • Rematch service if required as long as there is no misconduct involved, and is subject to availability & suitability
  • Information on setting up a bank account & How to get Working with Children Check
  • A Program Handbook
