Ready for your big OE?   Welcome to Nannies Abroad

Congratulations on completing the first part of your application with Au Pair in America.

First - how to get help

We're here to help you every step of the way to America.

Please download the HELP file when you next log in as it has step by step application instructions and tips.

If you need to ask up something please email us, or message us in your application system, or phone us in Auckland on 09 6321138.

This is what you need to do...

We have many American families waiting to see your application because they love Kiwis.

We have a 100% placement rate.

Do you have any girlfriends that would like to apply at the same time?
If you refer a friend you'll receive a US SIM Card for free.

Please join us on Facebook for updates and special offers and to meet others thinking about going, those who are in USA, and some who are now home. >>> http://www.facebook.com/Au.Pair.In.America.NZ

Here's a summary of what you need to start doing;

1. Write a personal letter to your host family. This letter should be about 600 words, and give the reader an understanding of your personality and experience. See the bottom of this page for an example letter to get you going.

2. Provide details of your Child Care Experience (babysitting, nannying, coaching). There is a specific form that will ask you for the dates and details of your experience. All areas of childcare experience should be clearly detailed, and you should have at least 200 hours of experience within the past 3 years.

3. Collect a minimum of three references written on the Au Pair in America Reference Forms. These forms are in your upload section under references.

4. Arrange a medical check up, and complete all pages of the Medical form . Two pages are completed by you, and two pages by your doctor. This can be done after your interview.

6. Download the NZ Police Check form from our web site, take it to your interview or send it to us -

Gather together the following items to provide with your application – you can upload them to the online site, or post them to the Auckland office to be scanned.

  • Copies of the latest school, academic and/or vocational certificates or diplomas you hold, or a letter from your school/college verifying the dates you attended and the qualifications you gained. (Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must supply a copy of the appropriate childcare qualification or a reference confirming their experience)
  • A copy of your full drivers’ license
  • A copy of your passport
  • At least 4-6 Photographs of yourself and children you care for (one must be a ‘passport-style’ photo of you)
  • You will need to provide a minimum of 3 references with your application. References should be completed on the Au Pair in America reference forms. These forms are in your upload section under references.

More on references

  • The primary childcare experience listed on your “Documented Childcare Experience” form must have a reference to support it. The references you provide should verify at least 200 hours of recent experience.
  • We recommend at least two of your references be Childcare Employer references, more if possible. If you are qualified we would like to also see a reference from your Training Institution/Tutor.
  • Immediate family members may not complete a reference - they can provide one seperately but it will not count as one of your three
  • All references must be signed, dated, and completed sufficiently
  • We encourage you to submit as many childcare and character references as possible. It is especially useful to provide references from employer listed on your childcare experience form.
