Nannying in USA - Can I apply?
To apply you must:
- be aged 18-26 years for the visa
- have 200 hours practical child care experience,
- hold a restricted or full licence and drive regularly
- have no criminal record (ie been to court)
- have completed 3 years minimum at high school
- love kids
- can work for 12 months in USA
then you too could be spending a wonderful year with an American Family caring for their children.
Experience can be made up from any of the following:
- babysitting (paid and unpaid)
- nanny work
- volunteer work with children
- youth group
- Daycare centre work
- Placement experience during nanny training
- Teaching experience
- Caring for younger members of the family
- Home educator experience
- Coaching children (sports)
- etc
As long as you can get at least three references from any of the above (employers, nanny course tutors, supervising teachers, youth group leaders etc) and all this experience adds up to 200+ hours - you meet this section of the criteria.
We recruit all year - departures for USA are every two weeks so you can choose your departure month and your family!
Do you qualify for a higher rate of pay?
If you have:
- Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education 0-3)
- CACHE DCE – Diploma in Childcare and Education (formerly NNEB)
- National Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (NZQA level 7)
- NZ Certificate in Nanny Education (Level 5), plus 1 year full-time childcare experience.
- Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Primary or ECE Level
- HATNZ Certificate in Childcare
- or have 2 years full time nanny or ECE teacher experience and are over 20 years old....
then you can apply for the Au Pair Extraordinaire Au Pair Extraordinaire programme. Please note final acceptance for this programme is determined at interview and from your full application. Having these qualifications alone does not guarantee you acceptance for this higher rate of pay.
